Jordyn Brazeau fell in love with cars when he was 14 years old. It was at that age he bought his first car, and restored it with his dad.
“Learned tons which turned into an ‘addiction,’” he said. “Not everyone understands having a love for a car but there is nothing like driving something that you have had every bolt off and built from the ground up with countless hours in blood sweat and tears.”
Brazeau is trying to share that love of “anything with a motor” with the rest of Quesnel by hosting a weekly meet up near the Maple Park Mall.
“It’s pretty special finding people who feel the same or have a respect for what you do. Whether they’re building a 4x4, old classic muscle or a Japanese import, as I enjoy, we all have the same love for these machines,” he said. “So I wanted to meet more locals with the same drive and love for vehicles.”
Brazeau started his own car group, naming it ‘Thoughtless Ambition,’ and is teaming up with the Facebook group Quesnel Imports and Domestics for weekly Saturday night meet ups.
In five days, the group gained 200 followers on Facebook, and 18 registered members. After posting looking for additional members to come show their cars, the post had to be updated because so many people responded.
“It’s been a dream to run a car crew like Thoughtless Ambitions and all these little things,” Brazeau said. “All the shares to the post and all the follows to the page are so overwhelming but pushing me to push farther.”
The club held it’s first event on Saturday Aug. 19, but is expecting an even bigger turnout for Aug. 22.
“No one’s judging here, we are a very open minded group,” he said. “We have members with cars that are learning to work on their cars from other members. All love here - We all share the same passion.”
Trying to start anything during an unprecedented global pandemic comes with some challenges.
The car meet has a maximum of 50 people, but if more arrive, then the club will expand to another corner of the parking lot. There will also be a dedicated entrance with sanitizer and a sign in sheet to keep track of how many cars have arrived.
“We will make sure there more than enough room for everyone to move around and stay six feet apart,” Brazeau said. “Just come down and see some cool cars. The kids love it. My two will be there. Support your community car clubs.”
