The sweet sounds of a choir singing will soon echo across Quesnel once again, as the Q City Singers will be hosting a mini-spring session.
The first rehearsal will be on Thursday, April 8, at Bethel Church at 6 p.m., and continue each week. All are welcome to participate with a $50 deposit.
“The ability to carry a tune is an asset,” the Q City website reads.
The group will cap off their seven week mini-season with a concert on May 28, also at Bethel Church.
Corry Climenhage is the director of the Q City Singers. She said the group has had no choir rehearsals or performances since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“Heavy breathing in proximity to strangers is definitely discouraged during an airborne pandemic,” she quipped.
The choir notes on their Facebook page they will be following all provincial guidelines during rehearsals and performances.
“Isn’t it crazy that something as innocent as choral singing could be so dangerous during this airborne disease time,” Climenhage said.
“Now that things are getting a little bit better… we’re going to re-convene our choir.”
Potential singers have been signing up in droves.
”People are relieved,” Climenhage said noting they are a choir for people from 19 to 99.
“The response has been very positive.”
The final performance of the season will be free for listeners.
