Each year, Quesnel Community Foundation (QCF) begins it’s grant cycle and encourages community groups to put together their proposals to receive funding from the foundation.

The QCF exists to meet the needs of the community through the growth and management of permanent endowment funds.

The grant cycle began Nov. 1 and closes at 5 p.m., Jan. 12, 2018. Visit the website for application guidelines at www.communityfoundation.ca.

In 2017, QCF awarded $67,000 to deserving community groups and $5,000 in Canada 150 grants.

The number of education awards distributed by QCF have doubled in recent years. Memorial and Family Funds have been set up in memory of loved ones. This year, QCF made 10 awards totalling $7,000 from seven separate funds.

This is also the time of year QCF is looking for donations in order to increase the permanent endowment fund and ramp up the income generated from that fund.

For the past few years, the foundation’s fundraising efforts have been boosted by the generous matching program of an anonymous donor. The donor matches any donations made to the endowment fund in November and December.

This year, the deadline for matching donations (up to a total of $50,000) is Dec. 10.

Dig deep Quesnel, this opportunity should not be missed.
