Friends, family and dance fans packed into the Chuck Mobley Theatre at Correlieu Secondary School to finally watch some of Quesnel’s youngsters perform.
Before the festivities at the Gold Pan City Dance Gala could begin on Friday, March 18, one of the school’s instructors was honoured.
Sandy Herman was presented with the Legacy of Pat Cummings award, given out by the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association (CDTA) to instructors.
A letter from the association was read by Jessie Herman before presenting the award alongside dancers.
“We are delighted to honour Sandy’s dedication and service to dance education,” the letter reads.
“Members like Sandy who demonstrate our vision of training youth and sharing our knowledge with our community make us the passionate organization we are today. Her committment to quality and professional integrity is remarkable.”
Herman has taught ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance.
