Quesnel Museum and Archives celebrates International Museum Day

To celebrate International Museum Day, the Quesnel and District Museum and Archives offers free admission on May 18.

The Museum includes three galleries of exhibits, a children’s activity centre, research services through the archives and a shop with a large selection of history books, Quesnel clothing and gifts.

The Museum is open from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on May 18.   Starting on May 21 the hours will be extended for the summer season.  The Museum will be open daily from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. until the Labour Day weekend.

May 18 will be the last opportunity, for some time, to view the exhibit Upstairs at Wah Lee’s; Portraits from the C.S. Wing Studio.  This show of archival photographs drawn from the museum collection will be taken down immediately after International Museum Day to be shipped to Touchstones Nelson Museum of Art and History.  It is also scheduled to travel to Medicine Hat, Alberta early in 2012.

In its place the museum will install additional photographs by C.D. Hoy which have not been displayed previously at the museum.  These photographs will be installed by May 30.
