Quesnel RCMP members are hoping to fill a pickup truck and a large trailer with food and toys to help make Christmas a little merrier for local residents.

They’re well on their way after spending five hours Saturday, Dec. 5 at the West Park Mall, where they kicked off their first annual Stuff a Cruiser fundraiser.

Through the campaign, the RCMP are asking for non-perishable food, unopened toys, winter clothing and hygiene products, which will be donated to the Salvation Army Food Bank, the Senior’s Voice Society and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Quesnel.

The RCMP will be back at the mall Sunday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect donations so they can help even more people.

COVID-19 precautions are in place at the donation area in the mall’s parking lot at 155 Malcolm Dr., and there is a drive-thru option.
