The Rotary Club wildfire relief fashion show on Oct. 27 was a huge success, and organizer Kathy Somerville of Ricki’s Bootlegger couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.

Performers from Gold Pan City Dance put on a fantastic show, with models donning clothes from Ricki’s Bootlegger, Mama C’s, Suzanne’s and Willis Harper.

A farm owner from Williams Lake came up for the event as the show’s male model.

Another one of the many people whose property was effected by the fires, he felt a personal need to contribute his time to the good cause.

“I know all the Rotarians around the province are coming together for fire relief, so we wanted to be a big part of that.” Somerville said.

“There was a lot of community spirit. When the community comes together like that, I love it.”

That community spirit raised approximately $2,400 to go towards wildfire relief.

Some 125 tickets were sold, packing the house with a large group of upbeat guests who came together with the kind of collective support that only comes from a small town.

Somerville is already planning another fashion show next spring, featuring more clothing stores in Quesnel, and is excited by their plans and how the next one will go.
