The Quesnel Women’s Resource Centre will receive $500 and a group dinner from Mr Mikes following the end of the restaurant chain’s Deeds Well Done campaign.

Mr Mikes in Quesnel received 28 nominations from restaurant guests for different charities across the community.

Sherri Reinhart, the director of culture and community for Mr Mikes Quesnel, says the nominations went to a panel of judges at Mr Mikes head office, who chose the winning charity based on the work they do in the community and their level of financial need.

Nominations ran from Nov. 20 to Dec. 31, 2018. During the same time frame, Reinhart says the Quesnel Mr Mikes worked with the Salvation Army to support the local hamper program, creating hampers filled with food and toys for local families in need.

“They supported two to three local families,” says Reinhart.

Mr Mikes restaurants from across the country will be donating up to $20,000 to various charities following the end of this year’s Deeds Well Done campaign.

They received more than 1,900 nominations overall, and each winning charity — like the Women’s Resource Centre — will receive $500 and a gift card for a group dinner at their local restaurant.

The campaign has now run for six years, and Robin Chakrabarti, the president of Mr Mikes Steakhouse Casual, says it provides the company with an opportunity to “recognize and give back to the people and organizations that make our communities a better place.”
