It was a busy week filled with adventure for Cadet Delilah Ledgerwood of Quesnel, who attended the Cadet Activity Program (CAP) at the Connaught Youth Centre during the week of July 24-29 in Prince George. From launching water-powered rockets to a visit with the BC Air Ambulance Station, there was no shortage of fun for this youth.
Cadet Ledgerwood, 13, who is part of 768 Royal Canadian Air Cadets Jet Ranger Squadron in Quesnel since October 2020, was one of dozens of cadets from the Northeast and Cariboo regions who attended the Cadets Canada CAP training. CAP, a new at-home summer training program supported by the Department of National Defence, replaces the previous away-from-home cadet camp experience. Local cadets go home at the end of the day, but youth traveling in from communities like Quesnel, Dawson Creek, or Vanderhoof get to stay overnight for the duration of the program.
While the CAP program is done for another year, 768 air cadets will return this September. If you know a youth aged 12-18 who may be interested in cadets or any adult who would like to donate their time, visit the Cadets Canada website at www.cadets.ca.
