Quesnel’s A&W branches got involved with the annual Burgers to beat MS fundraiser Aug. 16, during which $2 from every A&W Teen Burger sold went towards Multiple Sclerosis research and support programs.

The two local A&W branches together raised almost $5,900 in aid of the charity this year, just about doubling last year’s $3,022 city-wide total.

The South Quesnel location held evening events Thursday, a DJ, classic cars, goodies and door prizes. They also had a draw to win a giant A&W Root Bear stuffed animal.

Burgers to Beat MS has raised more than $11 million since its inception in 2009, making it the single-largest annual corporate fundraiser for the MS Society of Canada.
