As Christmas approaches and we realize just how fortunate we are, we know there are many others far less fortunate than ourselves.
It was at this time almost 5 years ago, a small group of women (now called “The Christmas Belles”) decided they would like to spread some Christmas cheer.
This event was to follow in the footsteps of the Anglican Church Christmas Day Dinner. However, as volunteers come and go, the dinner has evolved over many years.
Since then, a very generous donor within the group has provided the funding for meals and gifts while the rest have contributed by organizing, purchasing and assembling everything necessary for the events.
These same ‘Belles’ have set up, served, and cleaned up after each event with the help of many other community volunteers. These volunteers have also helped with freezing the turkeys, peeling potatoes and vegetables and washing dishes!

The first two sit-down dinners were in the Anglican Hall. The next one was held at the Seniors’ Centre. Last year’s Dinner was held at the Seniors’ Centre and our guests came by to pick them up and visit Santa and his elves. Our guests received a hot meal to-go.
Without the help of individual volunteers and organizations like the Quesnel Seniors’ Centre and all those who donate goods and cash, this event would not be what it is today.
This year, Christmas Dinner will be provided without the traditional turkey…but have ham and all the fixin’s for a family of 4 to enjoy. Included in the dinner will be potatoes, stuffing, corn, peas and carrots, with cookies and fruit cup for dessert.
If you would like to pick up a dinner, please drop by the Anglican Hall at 465 Kinchant Street on December 20 from 11am to 12:30pm.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas!
