Two free little art galleries providing the community a chance to share and appreciate art have received a refreshed look in Quesnel.
The Quesnel Art Gallery and Gift Shop has reinstalled the two blue display boxes with an orange roof in front of Big Country Printers and the Arts and Recreation Centre after recently being refurbished.
The free little art gallery at St. Laurent marks a new downtown location for the box previously located at Spirit Square.
“It was getting vandalized, so we ended up having to move it,” said art gallery assistant Shae Lightening.
The free little galleries were donated by the Quesnel and District Community Arts Council and installed in July 2021.
They encourage artists and residents of all ages to “take a piece, share a piece” of artwork. “I’ve seen little kids and seniors put things into it,” Lightening said.
The Quesnel Art Gallery and Gift Shop will host its annual Beaux Arts Bazaar from Saturday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Dec. 23, with member artists and artisans selling unique handcrafted gifts.
This year the Christmas sale will be joined by the Quesnel Farmers’ Market on Nov. 26, Dec. 3, and Dec. 10.
“It gets a lot busier and more exciting around here during this time,” Lightening noted.
