RV sales in Quesnel help support 3 charities this year

Each organization received $7,333

Chemo RV in Quesnel recently donated $7,333 to three not-for-profit organizations supporting the community.

Cheques were presented last month to Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, North Cariboo Highway Rescue and the Quesnel and District Hospice Palliative Care Association (QDHPCA).

The funds result from the sale of every recreational vehicle in which a portion of the proceeds was collected and donated.

”As a group, we pick every spring, when we talk about what we’re doing for our community giving initiative, recipients that we feel represent good values in the community,” said Chemo RV general manager Steve Rutledge.

Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation was among the charities to receive a funding boost last year, thanks to RV buyers and Chemo RV.

CEO Aimee Cassie said they are thankful again for the support that goes a long way to contributing to vital medical equipment throughout northern B.C., including Quesnel.

“We’re going to put it towards seniors health and wellness, which will be for a lift wheelchair as well as to our cardiac care program, and that currently, in the north, is our area of greatest need,” Cassie added.

On Facebook, the QDHPCA posted they are also grateful for the donation, which they are planning to use towards installing a much-needed new vinyl floor on their back deck.

Rutledge said recreational vehicle sales have been excellent, and if they continue the way they have been, next year could be their seventh record sales year in a row.

“We’re incredibly proud to be able to support the community and give back where we all work and play.”

North Cariboo Highway Rescue could not be reached for comment.
