Sechile Sedare is performing in Quesnel Feb. 8.

Quesnel Live Arts is hosting its second to last show of its season with Sechile Sedare performing their contemporary roots music.

Sechile Sedare (pronounced ‘seh-chee-leh’ ‘seh-dahr-eh’) means ‘my younger brother, my older sister’ in the Dene language.

Leela and Jay Gilday use their talents to co-write and perform their songs which include true storytelling as their voices blend together.

A summary of their work describes them as hitting notes of nostalgia, hope, humour and reflection. Their performance shares stories about their family history, connection to the land and water and the twists and turns of fate.

The performance will be at the Chuck Mobley Theatre in Correlieau High School (850 Anderson Drive) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 7:30 p.m.
