Quesnel’s 44th annual Billy Barker Days kicked off today, July 19, with Seniors’ Day in LeBourdais Park.

Local seniors were invited for a free light lunch and entertaining stage acts, and hundreds attended, sitting out of the sun under large tents set up in the space.

The Elaine and Friends Band played a set of toe-tapping tunes and there were plenty of smiling faces in the audience, with many seniors donning western-inspired gear in keeping with the Billy Barker Days aesthetic.

Billy Barker Days events continue tonight with the Bob Willson Memorial Crash to Pass Race at the Gold Pan Speedway. Time trials begin at 5 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.
