Quesnel minor baseball received a boost thanks to a softball tournament played by adults.
A tournament organized by Angele and Josh Nutley raised $1,000 for the minor baseball.
“Josh has a heart of gold, every time we put on a tournament we’re always trying to see which organization in the community is in need,” Angele said. “Together we put on these tournaments, but it’s his goal to give back to the community.”
Nutley said many of the players were happy to be out doing something after COVID-19 health measures relaxed.
“A lot of these teams were put together last minute, we had some youth out there, older people playing with us. Everyone just came together and had a great time,” she said.

The winner of the five-team tournament, Longname/MCF came away with a $200 gift card to Wings Restaurant.
“Everyone was really cordial with each other, sportsmanship was amazing, everyone was rooting for each other’s team, very light in regard to competitiveness. Overall, everyone had a really great weekend.”
Blue Jay Bistro did concessions for the tournament.
“They were fantastic,” Nutley said. “Everybody was so generous.”
A flag football tournament is being planned for November inside the Quesnel Youth Soccer Association building.
