Submarine to play Carib Theatre

-

Vandalism, adultery and a meddling son are all themes in the upcoming Quesnel Film Club flick.

The second film in the QFC Fall installment, Submarine, is slated for Sept. 29  at the Carib Theatre.

Written and directed by Richard Ayoade, a well-known English comedian and television star, Submarine debuted at the Toronto Film Festival in Sept. 2010.

It then played in several festivals and was eventually released in the US in June 2011.

The movie is a film adaptation of a novel by the same name written by Joe Dunthorne.

Submarine follows the adventures of young man Oliver Tate, played by Craig Roberts.

Oliver has two ambitions, to save his parents’ marriage and to woo a girl in his class before his next birthday.

He starts by forging love letters from his Mom to his Dad and when he suspects that his mom is having an affair, he breaks into the house of his mom’s ex-boyfriend, the suspect and commits minor acts of vandalism.

He wakes the next morning to find that his parents aren’t mad at him and are reconciling.

The film boasts a score with five songs written by Arctic Monkeys front man Alex Turner.

The running time of the movie is 97 minutes and is rated R.

Submarine will play every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. until Oct. 13.

Regular admission is $9 and seniors pay $7. Film memberships are included in admission.
