The Quesnel Chamber of Commerce’s tour of lights not only brought joy during a holiday season in the middle of a pandemic, local charities are also benefiting.
The manager of the chamber, Kathy Somerville, delivered more than $750 in donations to three charities around town in the wake of the event.
“Our displays went above and beyond and really bought into my vision, I can’t thank them enough, they brought magic in a time we needed it,” she said.
The United Way’s Better at Home senior’s program received $200, Season’s House received $268, and the Salvation army received $300 alongside donations to their food bank.
More than 5,000 vehicles took the tour according to Somerville.
“My heart was racing,” Somerville said. “Next year we will be able to have more displays. We were limited to 20 this year because of all the COVID-19 restrictions and we were only to have it for 3 hours.”
