Laurey-Anne Roodenburg is still deciding which one of her many pans she will use to bake for a cause.
The Quesnel city councilor is one of many volunteers whipping up luscious desserts in support of the Quesnel & District Hospice Palliative Care Association (QDHPCA).
A daily dessert will be sold online to the highest bidder from Tuesday, Feb 1 to Saturday, Feb. 12.
“Every not-for-profit group is trying to pivot in their fundraising ideas, and so this is a really neat one,” Roodenburg said.
“QDHPCA is a wonderful organization, and I know in the past I’ve been quite surprised how much the cakes raise from their auction so I’m looking forward to it.”
Roodenburg previously made a giant cupcake surrounded by some mini ones for QDHPCA.
This year in keeping with the theme of Valentine’s Day, Roodenburg hopes to make a red velvet cake.
“The association I think, is just one of those community groups that are so important,” she said.
“When we talk about end of life planning and care, this particular group does a lot to support the hospice and it’s just one of those pieces for our community that makes it a community.”
All proceeds raised will stay in Quesnel and support those facing end-of-life care, QDHPCA wrote on social media.
The auction will close each day at 6 p.m. with bids starting at $50.
