Live performances are returning to Quesnel.

Quesnel Live Arts have scheduled three more concerts in February, March and April. On Jan. 17, the group hosted violinist Amy Hillis and pianist Meagan Milatz at Bethel Church.

On Thursday, Feb. 24, Bethel Church will also be hosting MG3 + CGT. The group combines trios of California and Montreal-based guitarists who fuse 45 years of experience into one six-person ensemble.

“In a pleasantly surprising way, CGT’s steel stringed guitars blend naturally with MG3’s nylon-stringed guitars, as each trios’ fret boards chase the others’ original compositions and new arrangements of progressive rock, world, jazz and classical music,” the poster reads.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m., with tickets available at qla.tickit.ca.

On March 14, Quesnel Live Arts will be hosting ‘The Wardens,’ a self-described Rocky Mountain-based band. The band’s name comes from the fact members worked as national park wardens.

“With haunting three-part harmonies and chilling tales, the band’s mountain music - blending folk, roots and western styles – reflects Canada’s protected wilderness areas,” a description of the band reads.

“Celebrating the return of wild buffalo, wrangling grizzly bears, lonely nights on the pack-trail and reflecting on an environment in crisis, a performance by The Wardens has been dubbed ‘the quintessential mountain-culture concert experience.’”

In April, founding member of the Canadian Tenors Ken Lavigne will be coming to Quesnel.

“Joined by a four-piece ensemble, Lavigne takes his audience on a riveting and enchanting journey, retelling his personal campaign to sing at Carnegie Hall with the New York Pops,” his website reads.

Two other performing groups have tentative plans to come to Quesnel, but no dates have been set for them.

Quesnel Live Arts volunteer Colleen Brines thanked pastor Monte and Bethel Church for providing a venue, Billy Barker Casino and Hotel for helping with accommodation, Bliss Coffee for providing meals and Barry McKillican for producing the sounds.

“I’m beside myself,” Brines said, excited to get back to performances.

“It’s been a long two years… We’re just really happy.”

All concerts will follow COVID-19 health measures.
