The Quesnel Library will host the Oct. 5 event.

Quesnel's Writer's Day event will be held at the Quesnel Public Library Saturday (Oct. 5) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local authors and writers will be at the event to talk to folks and allow them to find out more about writers in the community.

There will be mini-sessions about self-publishing work, how to start writing, journalistic writing, song writing and poetry. People are welcome to attend the free event and take part in the informal conversations with local writers.

From noon to 12:30 p.m. Shannon Matter will perform her original music live, accompanied by The Electric Comets.

The event will also feature a recognition of the late Bernice Heinzelman who gave her time and energy to support writers in and around Quesnel.

Writers will have booths to sell their work at the event and some will do readings of their work to groups in the library's media room.

People can follow along with Writer's Day at their Facebook page: Quesnel Writer's Day.
