BC Hydro is planning a power outage on Saturday, Nov. 2 that will impact 1,569 customers from the southern edge of Quesnel to the northern edge of Williams Lake.

Expected to last from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., the planned outage is so crews can perform work within the Soda Creek substation, said Dave Mosure, community relations with BC Hydro.

"We are replacing two current transformers that showed initial signs of failure during regular testing earlier this year."

The outage is required, he said, because the work space does not offer enough clearance for the work to be done safely without the power shut off.

Mosure noted all impacted customers should have received some form of notification in the form of a telephone auto-dialer message, an email or a post card, depending on the details they have on their account.

Crews will strive to restore power as quickly as can be accomplished, safely, Mosure said.
