Bouchie Lake firefighters honoured

Members of the Bouchie Lake Volunteer Fire Department received pins and awards March 30

Members of the Bouchie Lake Volunteer Fire Department were recognized for their service and dedication last weekend.

Barb Bachmeier was honoured as Firefighter of the Year during the fire department’s annual Awards Night March 30.

Bachmeier also received a Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal, while Richard Short received an Exemplary Service Medal as well.

During the awards presentation, Short and Bachmeier each received pins for 20 years of service, while Dwight Green received an honorary 20 years pin, and Harold Bartel received a pin for 15 years. Doug Paley received a 10-year pin, and Austin Baker received a pin for five years of service.

Calvin Groll was honoured for having the top attendance, and special mention was given to Neil Currie to honour his 40 years of service.

Kevin Sales received congratulations for his new position as Assistant Fire Chief, and Paley was promoted to Lieutenant.

Regional Fire Services Supervisor Kathy Ferguson attended the Awards Night and congratulated the Bouchie Lake Volunteer Fire Department for its members’ excellent service to the community.
