Quesnel RCMP were called to the scene of a collision between a logging truck and a train north of Quesnel on Wednesday, June 10.

According to a release from the Quesnel RCMP, the collision occurred at approximately 11:35 a.m., on Naver Creek Road roughly 200 metres east of Highway 97.

“The investigation revealed an eastbound loaded logging truck was crossing a marked rail crossing when a southbound freight train collided with the trailer,” states the release.

Quesnel RCMP Sgt. Richard Weseen says that the collision caused the logging truck to flip on its side dumping its load, however, no major injuries were reported.

“The train was moving at slow speed and hit the truck causing the fully loaded logging truck to flip onto its side,” said Sgt. Weseen. “The driver was transported by ambulance with minor injuries to the Quesnel hospital, the train did not derail, none of the workers were injured and there was minor damage to the train.”

At the time of the accident traffic was being diverted through the Dunkley Lumber sawmill while crews worked to clear the road, DriveBC is not reporting any current delays on Naver Creek Road.

“The CN tracks were down for a small period of time and CN Rail has taken charge of the investigation,” said Sgt. Weseen.
