In the first question period of the legislative session, Cariboo-North MLA Coralee Oakes was disappointed that NDP Forests Minister Doug Donaldson refused to provide details on when their government plans on paying the Nazko Economic Development Corp the $500,000 that it owes them for supporting the B.C. Wildfire Service’s firefighting efforts.

“The NDP government needs to realize that the damage caused by forest fires doesn’t stop once the flames are out. Based on today’s question period, they seem to have put little thought into the recovery process, leaving businesses and thousands of British Columbians in a lurch.”
