This is catch-up week for garbage collection in the City of Quesnel. City Hall issued a notice that last week’s residential solid waste pickups had to be cancelled “due to mechanical issues.”

According to municipal officials, the deferred garbage pick-ups would begin on Tuesday and continue through this week.

“We will resume our regularly scheduled collection on Tuesday, December 13, 2022,” said the issued statement. “If needed, please bring your garbage to the Quesnel Landfill from Tuesday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.”

Adding to the buildup of castoff materials, recycling service by Emterra Environmental was also interrupted for Dec. 1 and 2. It was not specified if that glitch was connected to the garbage issue.

“Instead, they (Emterra Environmental) will pick up recycling in those areas on Thursday, Dec. 8 and Friday, Dec. 9,” said the City of Quesnel. “They will continue their normal pick-up schedule on Tuesday, Dec 13.”

Garbage collection in Quesnel is on a bi-weekly basis from Tuesdays through Fridays.
