Mounties in Quesnel responded to over 11,000 calls for service between Jan. 1 2024 and Dec. 31 2024, which they said is an increase from previous years in a news release.

Around nine per cent of calls had a mental health component.

RCMP saw a decrease in reports of residential break-and-enters and theft from vehicles, but an increase in commercial break-and-enters and theft of motor vehicles. They also noted an increase in reports of domestic violence and other assaults.

In April, Quesnel RCMP created a municipal traffic unit to help against impaired driving and keep the roads safer. In the period the unit has been active, they've seen around 350 calls for service and removed around 54 impaired drivers from the roads.

"The municipal traffic unit has shown great success in removing dangerous drivers from our roads," said Sgt. Clay Kronebusch.
