Quesnel woman killed in fatal collision

A 32-year-old Quesnel woman was struck and killed in a fatal collision Monday night (Jan. 21) at 8:38 p.m.

According to the Quesnel RCMP, the collision involved a pedestrian and a vehicle on Maple Drive near Kube Road.

The pedestrian died of injuries sustained in the collision. According to a press release from the RCMP, the driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is still in the early stages, but the preliminary information has revealed the woman was wearing dark clothing, and was not on a marked cross walk, according to the press release.

Maple Drive was closed for several hours last night, while an RCMP Traffic Analyst and investigators assessed the scene.

Sgt. Chris Riddle of the Quesnel RCMP says no further information will be released at this time.
