Quesnel Kangaroos take massive win at home opener

The Roos unveiled their third jerseys and got a massive win in their first game out of the West Fraser Centre this season

The Quesnel Kangaroos dominated at their home ice, taking a 12-1 win over the Nenchako Northstars.

The team scored four goals each period, constantly adding to their lead. The Northstars scored their only goal in the final period with less than nine minutes left on the clock, they had no hope of catching up to the Roos.

The West Fraser Centre was packed with excited fans ready to see the Roos' third jerseys, which features Indigenous artistry with support from the Lhtako Dene Nation.

The Roos' Alessio Tomassetti scored the team's final goal of the game, bringing him up to 155 goals scored throughout his CIHL career. He is now tied with former Williams Lake Stampeder Nathan Zurak for most goals scored by a player in league history.

Tomassetti, Brodie Dale, Chad Kimmie, Brayden Dale, Brett Mero, Brody Dyck and Braden Smith each scored one goal for the Roos. Steel Quiring scored two for the team, one in the first and one in the second period. Marshall Brown ruled the ice with three goals, one in each period of the game.

The Kangaroos will be playing their next home game Oct. 26 against the Terrace River Kings.
