Cariboo hockey fans can expect the heat to be on the ice as playoffs in the Eastern Division finals get underway in the Central Interior Hockey League.

A win against Smithers on Feb, 17, has put the Quesnel Kangaroos and the Williams Lake Stampeders in the forefront.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, the Roos will host a game against the Stamps in Quesnel.

That action will continue on Saturday, March 2, when the Stamps play against the Roos on home ice in Williams Lake.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. for both games.

If a third game is needed it will be on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m. in Williams Lake, confirmed Stamps president Willy DeVuyst.

Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the teams.

Stamps sent out a special thank you to Karen Gertzen of Crosina Realty Ltd.

“Karen has been a vital part of the Williams Lake Stampeders for many years. Crosina Realty is our sponsor for the playoff game March 2,” noted a post on the Stamps Facebook page. “Thank you Karen.”

Also in a Facebook post the Roos noted they’d swept the best of three series with a 6-5 final in Smithers.

“We want to thank the fans that showed up and supported the ROOS!! 100 years of support from the best Roos fans!!!”
