Preliminary results have Gabe Fourchalk winning the mayoral race

Gabe Fourchalk has been voted in as mayor of the District of Wells, according to unofficial results from Civic Info BC.

The new mayor, who has never held office, beat out challenger Lindsay Kay by a tally of 89 votes to 49.

He will be joined in council by Ksenya Dorward, who received 101 votes; Mandy Kilsby, who received 98; Jordan Rohatynski, who received 86; and Chris Cooley, who received 81.

138 of an estimated 197 eligible voters exercised their right to the franchise in the district.
