The ‘senseless death’ of numerous ducks that were killed behind the Tamarack Centre on February 7, prompted a police investigation, according to Cranbrook RCMP.

Cranbrook RCMP were called at around lunch time on Wednesday, Feb. 7, to the parking lot behind the mall. The complainant reported to police that a black two-door Audi sped through the parking lot intentionally hitting the ducks that live there.

While the majority of the ducks survived, several died on scene.

Cranbrook RCMP put out a release later on Tuesday, Feb. 13, saying the investigation had been solved, and thanking media for the help in getting the information out to the public.

No further comment on the matter would be forthcoming from RCMP, they added.
