September is always an exciting time for students (whether they tell you this or not), in anticipation for school.
Schools are buzzing with teachers preparing for the year, principals doing all that principals do, and the rest of the staff finishing up some last minute things to make sure schools are ready.
This school year we will continue to increase our focus on the learning agenda as the pandemic gets farther away in the rear-view mirror.
You can expect more robust communication from the school district and schools as we aim to provide as clear a picture as possible of the great things happening in schools.
The past few years have, in many ways, created distance between schools and parents. We want to alleviate this distance and reconnect families with the joy of school.
Please watch for updates, and opportunities to connect, on both school and district communication sources.
We are well positioned for success and have much to celebrate this year, such as the grand opening of QJS (Quesnel Junior School) and the completion of the CSS (Correlieu Secondary School) renovation project.
We will be introducing the new province-wide reporting policy, so you may see a change in your child’s report card as a result. Please watch for information or contact your child’s school with any questions.
Both the celebrations and challenges we face require the school community and parents/guardians to come together in support of the most important asset we have… your kids.
Please, if there are any issues or concerns or you simply want to introduce yourself to your child’s teacher, reach out to your school. The connection between parents/guardians and the school is really important.

Today, Sept. 6, is the first day back to school for students. It is early dismissal today, then full days from now on, per regular. On behalf of the entire Quesnel Cariboo Observer team: Welcome back, staff, students, families, and everyone in support of our education programs.
