Candidate for Quesnel mayor withdraws

Bruce Rigdon is no longer in the race

Bruce Rigdon has officially withdrawn from Quesnel’s mayoral race.

Rigdon’s name is no longer included on the list of mayoral candidates by CivicInfo BC after he said he would be withdrawing Monday, Sept. 12.

In an email, Rigdon said he made the decision after being informed over the weekend of an upcoming surgery he has been waiting two years for.

“I may consider trying again in the next election,” he said.

Rigdon was one of five mayoral candidates.

He has called Quesnel home for seven years.

He owned and operated a restaurant in Dease Lake, where he and his wife decided to move from, seeking a fresh start for their two grandchildren, whom they are raising.
