Cariboo Fire Centre is continuing to action fires on Aug. 10 after some lightning moved through the region on Aug. 9.
One fire (C21987) north of Anderson Road near Williams Lake, is a spot fire which is now listed as under control.
Two fires, C21972 and C21974, around 40 km south and west of Williams Lake and approximately 55 km west of 100 Mile House, are also now being held.
C21972 is estimated at 0.2 ha and C21974 is estimated at approximately 0.25 ha.
These are two of four new wildfires in the Stswecem’c Xget’tem First Nation (SXFN) area, also known as Dog Creek, Canoe Creek.
The largest of these, C21960, is estimated at 28.15 ha and is currently being held.
Another fire in the same area, C21963, is estimated at 7 ha and is listed as out of control. The fire is 1.8 km northwest of the old Dog Creek airport.
A fire east of 100 Mile House, C41954, is estimated at 0.55 ha and is listed as out of control. The fire is described as 1.1 km west of Rutherford Lake, and has ground crews being supported by aircraft actioning the fire.
The northwest of the region also has four new wildfires on the map on Aug. 10 in the Itcha-Igachuz Provincial Park area.
C51952 is estimated at 0.3 ha and is listed as out of control.
C51951 is estimated as 20 ha in size and is listed as out of control.
C51968 is a small spot fire, also listed as out of control.
C51948 is estimated at 1.7 ha, is listed as being held, and has firefighting personnel on site.
