Chemo RV in Quesnel and 150 Mile House have partnered with West Fraser to launch their Rebuild and Regrow project. With commitment to the regrowth of our regions forests lost to the wild fires last year, Chemo RV will plant 1,000 trees for every new and used RV sold on their lots between April 2018 and October 2018.

Last year, in the midst of fighting the region’s devastating fires, Chemo RV lent RVs to first responders in need of places to rest as they battled on the frontlines. The company also donated $54,000 to Red Cross and the 150 Mile House firefighters.

“My dad started this business 40 years ago with a commitment to good business and good citizenship,” owner Jason Bell says. “These are the communities we live in and love so I make it part of our business to be a good neighbour.”

This year the company wanted to spearhead a project that would support the region and replenish the losses of last year.

“We wanted to think of a way to give back that had an impact, and that showed we care about the legacy of the region,” Bell says.

Steve Rutledge, general manager of the Quesnel location, says their goal this year is to put 150,000 trees back into the forests. The initiative is something he feels will be carried forward into the following years.

“It’s good for the Cariboo and for future generations. It’ll be two or three generations from now that are [going to benefit], bringing those trees back to our sawmills.”

Rutledge says this long-term goal is a major incentive for this project. Not only will the trees ensure the success of the economy, he says, but Rutledge hopes for the restoration of the natural beauty lost to the fires, which will give RVers places to go to in the future.
