Correlieu Secondary School is celebrating a half-century of education and community excellence.

On June 2, principal Marissa Knauf, on behalf of students and staff, invites the community to come by the school to share in the festivities.

“We will be having a fun afternoon with our students to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Correlieu Secondary,” Knauf said. “We will be starting the event off with our annual grad barbeque, and then having an old-fashioned sports day with our students: field games such as sack races, tug-of-war, egg throw, three-legged race, and other relays as well as a dunk tank. We will also have a DJ Booth pumping out the top songs from the past 50 years. There will be cotton candy, popcorn and freezies for the students.”

A graduate from 1973 is coming to speak to students about what it was like as the first graduating class from Correlieu.

Then, after school, the community is invited inside for an open house.

“We will have the school open for people to walk through, we will have a display of school artifacts from the Quesnel Museum, and will have cake and coffee. This will run from 3-5 p.m.,” said Knauf. “Our school Leadership group has done all of the organizing for this event. They have 50th Anniversary t-shirts to give away as prizes and are making buttons to hand out. It should be a fun day. If you have any school artifacts that you would like to lend the school for this event please let us know.”
