Drivers heading from Quesnel to Prince George will no longer have to deal with a landslide area.

The cottonwood slide area was paved by Emcon workers on Oct. 27. At times the slide caused traffic along Highway 97 to drop to a single alternating lane.

“Long awaited paving,” read a tweet from Emcon Quesnel.

“Let’s hope it lasts through the winter!”

The slide deteriorated in late April of 2021. This slide is separate to a landslide on Quesnel-Hixon Road, which has closed the road near the Cottonwood River.
