The District of Wells is reminding residents to remain vigilant against COVID-19 after cases were detected in the community.

District employees have been affected, with one testing positive for the virus, and three others in self-isolation.

“The visitor information centre has been closed for the season as a result of COVID exposure to its workers,” a district notice reads. “District staff are also aware that the Jack O Clubs and the Sunset Theatre have chosen to temporarily close in efforts of protecting the community.”

The district uses green and red window squares for community members to signal if they are okay, or need assistance.

A green square indicates the household is doing well, and a red square indicates you need assistance.

“While district staff and first responders strive to be diligent we are only so many people and it never hurts to ensure someone knows your neighbour is in need,” the notice reads. “This is going to be a team effort. Please also keep up with the buddy program. Together we can get through this pandemic.”

If anyone needs assistance from the district, reach out at admin1@wells.ca or clerk@wells.ca.

The district asks anyone who is self-isolating to let them know so they can keep a list of those who may need assistance.

Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should call Healthlink BC by dialing 811.
