West Fraser Timber Park will once again host a drive-thru first dose vaccination clinic.

Starting on Monday, July 19, the clinic will be open until Wednesday, July 28. There will be a day off on Sunday, July 25.

Each day the clinic will run between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., except for Saturday, July 27, when the clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Only first doses of the vaccine will be injected at the drive-thru site, with registration recommended, but not required.

A previous clinic inside the park was extended by Northern Health (NH).

“There was very positive response from the community with the last drive-thru with requests to see this type of vaccination option available again in Quesnel,” NH spokesperson Eryn Collins said. “We’re continuing to focus on making getting vaccinated as convenient and accessible as possible…We’re hopeful the upcoming drive-thru clinic will also see strong attendance.”

Only 63 per cent of eligible people in Quesnel have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of July 13, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control. Quesnel has the fifth-lowest vaccination rate in Northern Health, and the eighth-lowest in all of B.C.
