Quesnel’s fourth mayoral candidate wants to come up with a local solution to ensure no one goes hungry.

David Schile believes Quesnel is in a good financial position to implement its own plan for food security.

“It’s not impossible for it to happen here,” Schile said of widespread hunger concerns as seen in Canada in the 1930s and 1980s.

“But it won’t happen here if someone comes up with a plan of action and implements it, then no one needs to starve.”

Schile moved to Quesnel with his family from Abbotsford in October 2020.

He owns his own painting business, Caledonia Painting.

Schile and his wife are involved with the Quesnel Youth Lounge.

They have seven children, with Schile noting they also enjoy gardening describing themselves as ‘quasi homesteaders.’
