Gloria Jackson is looking for re-election as school trustee.

This is a statement that rings in my head every time we make decisions for our School District. I am once again running for re-election on Nov. 19.

I am just finishing up my second term with the District and it was not a difficult decision to put my name in again for the upcoming election.

Public Education continues to be a huge interest for me. Our youth are the future and we as school board trustees have an important role to play in the education of these youth.

I have been an active participant at the Board table and on various committees of the Board. As Finance Committee Chair the last few years I have  been even more involved in the budget process and the fiscal responsibility that we as a Board have.

For the past six years as a trustee and before that as a representative of one of our local Native Bands, I have sat on the Aboriginal Education Council.

Education for our Aboriginal population is very important to me and still remains as one of the main goals of our District, which is to improve education equity for Aboriginal students.

I am a status member of the Red Bluff Band and would like to see our graduation rates for all of our students continue to improve.

I am fully aware of each individual learner and know that each student is a special person that can achieve their full potential with the proper support and caring that we like to see in our schools.

Being a trustee continues to be a challenging and rewarding job and I would be pleased to represent the public once again on the Board of Education. So, on Nov. 19, vote Gloria Jackson for School Trustee.
