Voyageur students and teachers launched balloons bearing anti-bullying messages.

More than 170 balloons, each carrying a hand-written anti-bullying message from each Voyageur elementary school student and teacher were launched (from 50-foot tethered ribbons) on Wednesday in honour of Pink Shirt Day. The balloons remained floating over the school for the entire day as a reminder to students, teachers and the neighbourhood that bullying won’t be tolerated. Organizers said they chose a balloon launch because every student could participate and liked the visual effect. The entire school witnessed each teacher launching her classroom’s balloons.
