Update: Quesnel RCMP confirm Highway 97 was closed Tuesday evening (June 13) due to a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 97 near Quesnel.
Sgt. Clay Kronebusch, Operations NCO for Quesnel RCMP, said emergency services responded to the crash on Highway 97 near Holley Road south of Quesnel.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Quesnel RCMP along with BC EHS, Quesnel Fire Department and North Cariboo Highway Rescue, responded to a report of the incident.
At 6:30 p.m. emergency crews were still on scene.
“One man has been taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Crews are working to free a man who is trapped in their vehicle. A woman on scene will be transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.”
Highway 97 was reopened later in the evening.

Highway 97 is closed in both directions 28 to 25 km south of Quesnel due to a motor vehicle incident, Tuesday, June 13.
DriveBC said the road is closed between Yorston Road and Holley Road and no detour is available.
