Fire and RCMP personnel attended a residential blaze Saturday afternoon.

Fire department personnel and RCMP attended a residential fire located in the 800 block of Pine Road in the Red Bluff area, Saturday.

Fortunately, no one was inside the residence at the time of the fire. This is the second time fire department personnel have been called to a fire at this location during the past six months. The cause of this fire remains under investigation by Quesnel RCMP and Fire Department.

RCMP noted Saturday’s emergency response efforts were complicated by the many people who stopped to observe the fire. Curious onlookers who stopped to watch inadvertently blocked the road making it impossible for emergency vehicles and  personnel to gain immediate access to the fire.

Quesnel RCMP and the Quesnel Fire Department would like to urge the public to keep the streets clear during emergencies so that emergency vehicles can get to the scene and do their job.

During emergencies, seconds matter and can even mean the difference between life and death. RCMP urge the public to “do your part in assisting emergency responders, by keeping well away from emergency scenes and ensuring the streets are clear so that emergency vehicles have easy access to the site.”

Anyone with any information regarding this fire call Quesnel RCMP,  250-992-9211. Or, if you wish to remain anonymous, call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
