Huge turnout for anti-mandate convoy in Quesnel

Nearly 500 vehicles poured out of the Quesnel Co-op on Saturday, Jan. 29

Red and white flares marked the start of a protest in Quesnel on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Around 475 vehicles poured out of the Co-op card-lock in Quesnel in the morning, in support of an vaccine mandate protest convoy which arrived in Ottawa the same day.

The vehicles were planning to travel from Quesnel to Kersley, protesting vaccine mandates. Those who did not go to Kersley were planning on heading to Quesnel city hall.

There were so many vehicles, it took around an hour for the convoy to leave the card-lock, and traffic along Highway 97 in Quesnel remained slow into the afternoon, with many passing vehicles honking in support.

Vehicles were covered in Canadian flags, some carrying signs quoting the national anthem or directing anger towards Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

The Quesnel RCMP was at the start of the convoy, helping direct traffic safely.
