Karaoke winner chosen during Billy Barker Days

Quesnel's So You Think You Can Sing winds up with three winners

Quesnel’s So You Think You Can Sing competition culminated in a two-part final during Billy Barker Days.

The Royal Canadian Legion hosted the event, which saw contests every Friday leading up to the final.

Winners from previous weeks were invited to the final on Friday night of Billy Barker Days where the finalists were whittled down to 12 who were invited back to perform Saturday, after which three winners were chosen.

The singers were judged on four criteria: singing in key, singing in rhythm, singing the words clearly and crowd reaction.

Straight From The Heart Music supplied the karaoke services throughout the competition and in the end, Stephen Dobson beat out the other contestants with his rendition of Boot Scootin Boogie, originally a Brooks and Dunn tune.

Julie Joly and Nathan Pontius rounded out the top three singing Jolene and La Bamba, respectively.

Prizes included vouchers for several hotels, restaurants and activities such as rafting, train rides and tattoos.
