The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) expanded an evacuation alert for the Knickerbocker-Wells Road area Sunday, April 26, and five addresses are now impacted.
An evacuation alert for two properties and an evacuation order for one property were originally issued Thursday, April 23 due to a landslide.
An evacuation alert is meant to prepare residents to evacuate their premises or property should it be required.
“Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” the CRD states.

Due to a landslide, the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) issued an evacuation order and an evacuation alert in the Knickerbocker-Wells Road area Thursday, April 23.
At 3:54 p.m., the CRD issue an evacuation order for a portion of 1639 Knickerbocker Rd., which is on the way from Quesnel to Bouchie Lake.
“Due to immediate danger to life safety due to landslide, affected residents have already been tactically evacuated,” according to the CRD’s website.
At 4:02 p.m., the CRD issued an evacuation alert for two properties — 1639 Knickerbocker Rd. and 1697 North Fraser Rd.
An evacuation alert prepares residents to evacuate their premises or property should it be required.
“Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, you may receive limited notice due to changing conditions,” the CRD states on its website.
When an evacuation alert is in effect, residents should be prepared for an evacuation order. The CRD says when an alert is in effect, residents should:
• Have a plan to transport all family members or co-workers (while practicing physical distancing if possible) outside of the area, should the area be brought under evacuation order.
• Keep essential items readily available for a quick departure; including medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (such as insurance), immediate care needs for dependents and, if you choose, keepsakes (photographs, etc.).
• Ensure any dependents or pets are prepared for departure.
• Move pets and livestock to a safe area.
• Ensure you have accommodation options for your family, if possible. A Reception Centre will be made available if required.
• In the event you are evacuated, do not shut off your natural gas.
• Monitor reliable news sources for information on evacuation orders and locations of Reception Centres and the CRD’s channels on Facebook and cariboord.ca.
