Legion gears up for Service night

If you were at the Legion Friday you were one of the lucky ones who enjoyed the Perogy Night – this was a huge success with all the perogies being sold out.

ROLL CALL was won last week by Russell.

So we are back to the beginning, $2 will be added to the pot each day and draws will continue to be made at 12:30 p.m. on weekdays and 3:30 p.m. on the weekends. Good luck to you all.

The winners of the poster, poems and essays have been announced (see list at right).

These lucky winners are invited to join the veterans at their luncheon on March 3 to enjoy Fran’s famous spaghetti and garlic toast.

Each one of the winners also receives a cheque, a certificate, pin and bookmark.

Congratulations to you all for a job well done. If you entered and did not win, you will have a chance to enter again next year.

We are coming to the close of February and hopefully that will mean some Spring thaw is on the way.

Let’s start off March with the St. Patrick’s Stew and Biscuit Night, March 17 for only $10 as well as an evening of Irish entertainment to enjoy as well.

Continuing in March there’s some exciting news for everyone.

The Legion has been chosen as one of two Canadian locations to hold Spring Fling.

This event is sponsored by Febreeze and is slated for March 21.  The hall is converted into a spring oasis complete with turf, trees, flowers, shrubs and all the trimmings.

Landscape artists and designers will take three days to set up this spectacular event and if that is not enough to tempt you there is also 1,000 free gift baskets to be given away. And the Legion gets to keep everything – awwww spring gotta love that.

March 26 the Robert Service Night is held. This has always been hugely popular, not just for the incredible

meal supplied by the great Ladies Auxiliary cooks,

but for the entertainment as well.

The hall has been known to ring with laughter through some of the very funny skits provided by Legion members to honour the works of Robert Service.

Come out for the evening, you will not be disappointed.

More to come on all the March events planned for members and non-members alike to enjoy when all the details are finalized.

Speaking of non-members, remember anyone can come into the Legion to enjoy one of Deanna’s lunches.

Friday is her famous clam chowder day. She always has a spectacular salad bar complete with all the freshness you desire as well as a daily special.

Lunch is available from Tuesday – Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Who knows, your name may be called at 12:30 p.m. for ROLL CALL while you are there.

So hurry in – there is much to enjoy.
