The Quesnel Observer asked all SD28 candidates the same four questions. They were limited to 300 words.
Donelly Clement declined to participate, while the remaining 12 candidates provided answers to these questions: A. Can you tell us a bit about yourself? B. What prompted you to run for school board? C. What do you feel are some of the challenges/concerns facing School District 28? D. How do you plan to address those challenges? E. What are a few fun facts about yourself?
A. I live a very family-based lifestyle, being a lifelong Quesnel resident and small business owner, I thrive on being involved in the community. From my sons’ sports, to supporting local business, down to the simplest afternoon at Lebourdais.
B. I would love to be a voice for the children present and ongoing. To relay the parents’ voice when life and work scheduling doesn’t permit.
C. We are facing diversity, financial struggles and bullying in our schools just to name a few. There must be common ground to be found. Solutions are everywhere! We just need to come together to tackle them as a community.
D. Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor by one person. But guess what, it was built. I understand that one person can not make everyone happy, but, I can bring every willing person’s voice to the table to be heard. It might not be “Rome” but its our children’s future!
E. I love music! For anyone who knows me on a personal basis it’s an obsession.
Growing up in a family of race car drivers, it taught me healthy competition. You can’t always be a winner, but you have to show up!!!
I love being interactive with people. Everyone will attest I can find a friend in the Walmart self checkout… I just can’t help myself.
Camping within my family is a staple. Before a recent off grid camping trip, I confessed I was scared to have a bear encounter.
My husband assured me all I had to do to defend myself was to start a debate with said bear. He laughed, knowing the bear would flee.
